This was just a concept, I'm still developing exactly how it works. There are two parts to Hisakousen Forest. The World of the Living is ruled by Arik, the Spirit World is ruled over by Tenrai, but it's not the "afterlife". It is more like a magical plain where non-mortal creatures reside. The Afterlife, called the After in this story, is only reached by the Spirits of the dead. They make their way to the center of the forest and ascend there. It is a mystery to many what actually lies there. Tenrai's main purpose is to protect the balance of life and death, assure that the spirits are safely arriving to the after, and to prevent more malevolent creatures that live in the spirit world, mostly based on Youkai, from causing harm to the living.
Is Tenrai's "world" the same as Arik's in the way it looks? I mean, are the rivers in the same place in both plains or are they differet? I always, for some reason think of worlds in similar consepts to reflections of eachother, you see, and I can't really shake it, try as I might.
The medium I am considering (a while from now actually) would be a game. The gates serving as kind of level gates. You go through one at the end of the level. Im far off from that and still working on it haha. Right now I'm focused more on WINGS. Hisakousen is on a back burner for now. But that doesnt mean I wont come back to it. Tiz my baby. Its just got a large amount of holes that need to be patched up haha.
