If I expand on this idea I'll add to it.
What I have so far:
(oh, and hes a fox, I guess)
Time Period: Feudal Japan (i know Red Panda's don't exist in Japan, this animal is only BASED of one, thank you)
Genji was a farmer who had a wife and young daughter. He lived in a humble house a little ways from a village. One day, when working on the field, he found a small creature. It seemed tame, but he wasn't sure what it was. He brought it home and gave it to his young daughter, who named it Haruna.
One night, the family was attacked by a Wanyūdō while Genji is out of the house. When he returns, his home has partially burned down, and his wife and child are dead, souls stolen by the monster.
Genji is distraught, but finds Haruna very much alive, hiding under a blanket. Soon after, several new youkai appear to attack Genji. He realizes that they want Haruna. At first he is angered, but then remembers how his daughter loved Haruna, and uses a sword to kill the Youkai.
He knows that the small animal must be special for it to be perused by these monsters, so he sets out with it to find out what Haruna is, and why so many youkai are attracted to him.
Thats all i got, I know it is filled with cliches, sue me
Anyway. Maybe I'll turn this into something, maybe I wont. At least you got his backstory on the first pic! THAT NEVUR HAPPENZ.
Genji - Two Beginnings
Haruna - Springtime Vegetables (named so because it was found in a field of crops.)
Wanyūdō is a youkai, read more about them here - [link]
