Shika-onna Deer woman
These are harmless spirits that crave attention. They are nocturnal, and reside in deep areas of the forest. They are named for the female Noh masks they wear, which conceal their humanoid face, which has only a mouth with no eyes or nose.

These spirits seek attention, and will be seen around soul remnants. They are known to follow beings that pass by, making strange moaning sounds. If ignored, sometimes they will bleed profusely from the mouth and chest and make a very loud shrieking sound. This does no harm to the Shika-onna or the passerby, but it can be quite unsettling. If the Shika-onna continues to be ignored it will usually stop its antics and find someone else to pester.

Possibly the creepiest things I've ever drawn.

NO these are not REAL YOUKAI. I made them up to fill in some of the spirits that live in Tenrai's forest XD The glowing balls are called soul remnants (also a creation of mine) that are left behind when a soul passes on. They can be seen here as well:


Mostly they just float around. They have very very basic intelligence, they aren't ghosts. They're like insects as far as brains go. Just thoughts and memories left behind by the living.


Shika-onna are just some creepy ass attention whoring giant Sika deer. Kind of funny to me XD

IDK why but I'm completely inlove with this project and everything about it XD Would it be ok if I did some fan-art for the creatures/characters in this project? I'm just so inlove with the whole concept x3
